This year Hair Cuttery is a proud supporter of Boo at the Zoo at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington, D.C. Families and children can enjoy a fun filled "trick or treat" at the National Zoo on October 22,23 & 24. There will be more than 40 candy and food stations inside the animal buildings and along the main walkway. Stop by the Hair Cuttery booth to receive free goodies each night. Thanks to our Clients and our Stylists Hair Cuttery's 11th Annual Share a Haircut was huge success! This year, Hair Cuttery Stylists donated 60,000 free haircuts to disadvantaged children so they could start the new school year looking great and feeling confident. From August 1st through 15th, every time a child (aged 18 years old or younger) received a haircut at any of the nearly 900 Hair Cuttery salons, a free haircut was provided to a disadvantaged child in the community. Free haircut coupons were distributed to needy youngsters through local Social Service Agencies just in time for kids to have a fresh new haircut for the first day of school! Thanks to all our caring stylists and clients for showing overwhelming support for our hair collection program and being committed to making a difference in their communities. Because of you, Ratner Companies, with the help of Fedex, has been able to ship six thousand pounds of hair to the Gulf Coast. Matter of Trust, the nonprofit organization that makes hair booms and mats that soak up oil, has warehouses full of hair booms ready to be deployed if needed.

We have learned that, at this time, BP does not intend to use the hair booms to help clean up oil in the Gulf. However, we have been assured by Matter of Trust that they will be used to clean up less disastrous oil spills that occur with great frequency in the US.
